Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta
When looking for a romantic getaway, girl’s trip, or just a beautiful spot with much to offer, the Grand Fiesta Americana in Puerto Vallarta will not disappoint! Located on it’s own private beach, this luxury resort has a secluded feel yet is only a 10 minute cab ride to the Malecon and the lively nightlife of Puerto Vallarta.
From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly staff members that for my entire stay catered to my wants and needs, always with a smile and “it’s a pleasure!” It’s been said “the difference between something good and something great is the attention to detail”, a philosophy the owners and staff of GFA must take to heart. With its 443 ocean front rooms and suites, all with balconies and spectacular views, the GFA is a resort you have to experience.
My sophisticated and modern room met all my amenity needs, and the ultra-comfy king bed with luxurious linens and pillows made it really hard to get out of bed each morning! While others enjoyed the lavish breakfast buffet downstairs, dining on my balcony while watching dolphins and whales was hard to beat. The 24 hour room service offered everything from standard American breakfast fair to my guilty pleasure chilaquiles, a Mexican favorite.
I was extremely impressed with the variety of dining options available during the day. A buffet with a good variety was available for grabbing something quick, the Shore Grill with great burgers, steaks, and other great tasting grilled entrees. La Cevicheria offers the freshest ceviche, fish tacos, and a variety of other seafood delights. I opted to stay poolside one day, ordered lunch from Juan, my poolside waiter, and enjoyed a great lunch soaking up some rays (and Don Julio from the swim up bar)! Evening dining choices on site were Mexican cuisine at Rojo Coramon, Italian dining at Gulietta, Asian fair at Yuu, and a tapas and sushi bar at Serrano Station. All were enjoyed by the guests I talked to or by me personally, some require reservations and have the resort causal dress code Mexico is known for.
It’s easy to relax and forget about life’s worries enjoying the sprawling infinity pool. As I watched guests enjoy the resort’s many activities, I daydreamed of joining the kayak tour. Juan, my new best friend, snapped me out of that silly thought when he returned with a fresh Don Julio con hielo! And I hadn’t even ordered another.
The Skybar at night was the place to be, with great live music or a DJ playing what you want to hear and dance to when in Mexico. If you want to catch the game on big screens, the Tequila Bar is the place. Offering a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable seating, and a great bar with a tequila selection that might cause you to sleep in.
You should know: The resort is having it’s breakwater expanded to protect more beach and there may be some noise from machinery for short periods of time. It should be completed soon, I’m guessing March or April of 2017.
Don’t miss: La Bodeguita del Medio & Mandela on the Malecon. Seafood platter at La Cliff
What impressed me the most: The friendliness of the all staff. I was truly devastated when I returned home and asked for something and didn’t hear the response, “it’s a pleasure”!
Final Thoughts: I loved GFA, the staff, and all it offered!!! Sitting on my balcony watching the whales was super cool!!! I know I can put my clients here and they will return home and say thank you!
